JibberJobber Clarification What Email Do You Get

JibberJobber Clarification What Email Do You Get I got another delete my account message that I have to share here.  Ive gotten this 2 other times (in 4+ years): i get nonstop mail i do not want In response, I have to make this statement: We are very, very, very careful about what email messages we send out. In fact, we send out far less than we should, for fear of having our email server plagued and flagged as a spamming server.  Heres what you get: When you sign up, you get a confirmation email to the email address you put in that way we can know you actually own that email address. Birthday emails when you put a birthday in the system for any of your contacts youll get (a) one email at the beginning of each month for upcoming birthdays and (b) an email for each contact. Action item emails if you are premium, youll get an email for each Action Item based on your preferences. Maybe, out of the blue, and email from me I try to send emails regularly but its about once a year. IF you are getting other emails, spammy stuff, then let me share some thoughts. I was an email admin for a few years and my opinion is that spammers are winning, and will win, on the war against spam. If you are getting spam, welcome to the Internet. If you are getting more spam since you signed up for JibberJobber, I can tell you, its not from, or because of, us.  We dont share or sell your contact information with anyone. No one.  Period. Maybe its because of a general uptick in spam. Maybe its from another site/service you have visited. But it isnt because of, or from, JibberJobber.com. What Can You Use As Position Name For Your Resume?

What Can You Use As Position Name For Your Resume? When writing a resume for a different job what can you use as position name? This question is frequently asked by job seekers. In the first place, what position can you use as a place holder for a new job?At times, we have the notion that people who have applied for a job do not mind sticking to a particular job at a certain company. This is due to the fact that they are already aware of the company and its working style. They are also well versed with the particular terms used in that particular company. Therefore, it does not need to be explained that they will not be easily confused about their work address and telephone number.Yet, the notion that position name can be chosen without much ado seems rather doubtful. The second thought when it comes to this question is that, you could always opt for a generic job title. And with a single number, you would be able to get yourself into a regular job, where as a little imagination and p erhaps creativity on your part will take you to a place where you can more appropriately express yourself. However, what can you use as position name? Well, there are a few names that have a better chance of achieving the desired effect. One of the best options is to use a great name for a title. In fact, there are quite a few prestigious titles in this category. Some examples are Master of Science, Doctorate and Associate Professor. There are even others such as Dean, Chancellor, President, Secretary General, Regional Director and CEO. There are plenty of such titles that could be employed to achieve the purpose of what one wants to convey.Another option would be to use a typical job title when one is applying for a job. This would ensure that the job seeker has no problem using his original job title, unlike if he were to try and find an alternative title. One of the best advantages of this option is that there are plenty of job titles to choose from. For example, there are an endl ess number of positions like: Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Senior Accountant, Administrative Assistant, Technical Writer, Public Relations Manager, Software Developer, Client Service Representative, Customer Service Representative, Human Resources Manager, Project Manager, Operations Manager, Sales Manager, Vice President, Executive Director, Principal Executive Officer and so on.After all, the person should not feel as if they are writing a resume to be reviewed by a prospective employer, especially if he is putting forth more than one application. The job seeker should not only be able to show the prospective employer that he is capable of doing the job, but that he has the potential to be excellent at the position. Being honest and direct is the best way to accomplish this. When the job seeker is not sure how to write a resume, there are plenty of resources available on the Internet to help him. For instance, a candidate could get in touch with an employment recruiter, or the Job Bank of Career Builder. These companies provide various websites that can help the candidate in making the most out of his efforts in writing a resume. As long as the job seeker wants to appear professional, he should be able to establish a good impression on the prospective employer, and he should be able to use a good job title. The key to getting yourself a job at a top company is to show off your capability and talent, and this is achieved best through a good resume.

Inside the Mind of a New York Times Book Review Editor - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Inside the Mind of a New York Times Book Review Editor - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Today, I spoke with Sam Tanenhaus, who is an editor at the New York Times Book Review.   Hes got quite the job, receiving hundreds if not thousands of books.   As an upcoming author and friend to many other authors and people who want to get into the publishing business, I thought it would be a good idea to interview Sam.   After interviewing Sam, its safe to say that you need a bit of luck, and a high quality book in order to even have a chance at getting reviewed.   What takes you from reading a book to writing a review about it? What is the process of selection? My inclination, in almost every instance, is to think first of someone else, one of our many fine critics. On occasion, however, one of my colleaguesone of our half dozen superb preview editors, who do the lions share of reading and assigningwill suggest that I might be an adequate reviewer. This happened, for instance, in the case of a biography of Richard Hofstadter. Since I write history myself and have a particular interest in his subjects, this made sense, so I did it. How many books have you received over the past year? How many of those books have you read? Out of that amount, how many have received reviews? Were they all positive? We receive hundreds of books each week. I myself read only a small portion, though collectively as a staff, we read several thousand. We review perhaps 2 percent of the books published each year. Our reviews cover a broad range, from admiring to unadmiring. We have no control over what a reviewer will say about a given book. Our most important statement is the decision to send it out for review. By doing so, were indicating our belief that the book merits attention. The rest is up to the reviewer. How have you built your personal brand over time? Looking back, what would you have changed as you progressed in your career? My career, such as it is, has been one long accident. Much of what Ive done, I would not have predicted for myself, though each step, or misstep, seemed to make sense at the time. Sam Tanenhaus was named editor, Book Review of The New York Times in March 2004. Mr. Tanenhaus had previously worked for The Times from 1997 until 1999 as the assistant editor to the Op-Ed pages. He has also written for the Book Review and the Op-Ed page, as well as Arts Ideas, the Week in Review and The Times Magazine.

Volunteer Experience on Resume - Choosing Between Academics Or Volunteering

Volunteer Experience on Resume - Choosing Between Academics Or VolunteeringWhen choosing a volunteer service, one should always look for experiences that will stand out. Volunteers and their services should always be highlighted in a way that will make you stand out from the other applicants. This can be done with experience on the resume.First, it is important to remember that the experience that you have done should be professional or academic in nature. A volunteer experience with the military or a corporation must be highlighted in a way that will make you stand out from the rest of the applicants. However, you must not confuse this with a volunteer service that is professional in nature. It is best to highlight the volunteer experience with something that will make your name stand out from the rest of the applicants.Second, when listing experience on a volunteer service, it is best to list what you did in an academic setting. This will make you stand out from the rest of the app licants that do not provide experience in a professional field. Even if you are volunteering as a student or a fellow student, it is still something that needs to be taken seriously. Professional experience helps make a volunteer service stand out from the rest of the applicants.Third, it is important to consider the qualifications of your volunteers. Your volunteers need to meet the qualifications that are set forth by the organization. One thing that will help with this is to list volunteer experience in an area that you believe you will be able to meet the expectations of the organization. Make sure that you also state the volunteer service that the organization requires. Once you do this, you will not only be able to describe your service to the employers, but you will also have a record of what you have done.Fourth, when listing experience on a volunteer service, you want to make sure that you are careful with what you list. By listing the experience in such a way that it is pr ofessional in nature, youwill be able to show that you have a solid volunteer service background. This is another reason that you should state that you are volunteering.Fifth, even if your volunteer experience is not professional in nature, make sure that you are listed in the volunteer directory. This can help to list you as a volunteer. If you do not mention volunteer service in your volunteer experience on resume, it is possible that the employer might take you for granted or forget about you.Lastly, when listing volunteer service on a resume, it is a good idea to also list volunteer leadership positions you have held. This will help to give the organization a better picture of the volunteer they are hiring. The volunteer service that you volunteer with will always be a part of your resume. When writing your volunteer resume, you need to list experience in a professional setting. With this, you will stand out from the rest of the applicants.

Career Networking and Your Business Card Diving in further - Hallie Crawford

Career Networking and Your Business Card Diving in further I got some positive feedback on my recent posts where I dove deeper into specific topics that I write about in my Career Articles online. (Thanks Dina for your response). So Im going to do more of that this weekI hope its helpful. Business Card Tips and Etiquette How important is your business card? Are you in the kind of business where you use it a lot, or not at all? I used to work in a field that didnt require much use of the business card. So I subsequently used mine as bookmarks, to write to do lists on, and now to be honest, I have a large box of old unused business cards in my office that I just cant bring myself to throw away. I like to recycle as you know and hate wasting paper. Now that Im in business for myself, I realize just how important these little cards are, especially if youre in the job market or in business for yourself. So how important are they? Theyre important, and heres why: 1 They make a statement about who you are. Because I can control the way my card looks, the look is very important to me. Its my image and my 1st impression. If youre in business for yourself, or looking for a new job, make sure your card makes a statement about who you are. 2 Think about your personality what kind of card fits your personality? Create one that fits who you are. 3 Consider the job youre searching for what kind of card is most appropriate for that field? More conservative and straightforward or creative and funky. My cards walk the line between creative, bold, hip and professional. I always get comments on them, it makes me that much more memorable to the person Ive just met. So make yours that way. Make a statement, the right statement. 4 If youre in between jobs, should you make up a card? Yes, especially if youre attending a networking event. You need something to hand to people right? You can easily get cards made for free online these days, or something done at Kinkos. It doesnt have to cost a lot to look good. So make something up with your contact info and the type of job youre looking for. Include the title of your current or previous position on there so people can identify you with a specific field. If youve got a sense of humor include something funny and memorable. Making a good first impression is important in career networking and your card is an important part of that impression. Good luck!
